His primary tool for creating electronic music is FL Studio. FL Studio has it all: a mixer, a sequencer, loads of special effects and filters. Truly fantastic. He strongly suggests you purchase a copy! It takes a while to get used to using it, but it really makes music-making a digital breeze.

MAGIX Music Editor 2.0

When Jon needs to modify, cut and paste the sounds he uses in his songs, he uses MAGIX. It was cheap — he got it at Best Buy for $30. It’s very handy for the wave-editing that FL Studio can’t do. He looked at their site (magix.com), but I couldn’t find it. Maybe they don’t sell it anymore?

Bink Video’s RAD Video Tools

He’s started making songs based on movies and TV shows that he likes, and sometimes it’s useful to extract sounds from the movie trailers and movie clips that are available online. To accomplish this he uses the RAD Video Tools from Bink Video. They’re donationware, so be sure to give them a few bucks if you find their stuff useful (he did).

Loops and Samples

Jon has purchased thousands of loops, samples and instruments for use in FL Studio. Two of the places he’s gotten the sounds from are PlatinumLoops.com and PeaceLoveProductions.com. Both have a large selection at reasonable prices.

Hardware

He uses an audio-technica studio microphone for vocals (AT3035), and an Edirol UA-25 USB Audio Capture device to record from the microphone. He loves the Edirol because it’s very small (perfect for my desk) and supports two studio microphones and has a digital output for headphones.

If you’re interested in creating your own music, he wants to tell you this: it’s a lot easier (and cheaper) than you might think. You don’t need a studio (even for vocals). He records vocals in his office at home. All of the software and equipment costs came to around $1,250 (including the loops). The equipment all fits on my desk, and the software runs on my home PC. FL Studio needs a good bit of memory, so Jon suggests you don’t have less than 1GB of RAM (that’s how much he has and it works fine).

To increase your search engine ranking, you should be very selective in choosing keywords. That simple act can make the difference between a site earning as little as a few dollars a day and a site earning hundreds of dollars a day.

Keywords, or keyword phrases for the purpose of this post is a better term to use, are one of the, if not the, most important attributes you can use for making sure that your business will be successful on the Internet. Keyword phrases are what people use when they’re searching the web. You’ve done searches yourself and every time you did the search engines went looking for good matches, so they can give you a selection of sites that meet your needs.

Although plenty of people do a single word search, generally speaking, it’s a little harder to get good rankings for such simple terms, especially in a competitive niche. Even phrases like credit card throw up 176,000,000 results so they are tough to do well for.

That’s where the keyword phrases come in. Credit card application, for example, has only 3,480,000 results. Still a lot, but much lower than credit card. Apply for credit card has just over 1,000,000 results.

Getting the proper crowd into your trade show booth can be a big task, but not impossible.   Walking the trade show floor on numerous occasions  I have noticed that there are some impressive looking trade show displays and some just mediocre.  I have also noticed some of the nice impressive booths have no crowd in them. Attendees just pass them by as if they were not there. The booth looks relatively nice with decent product displays yet no visitors to the booths (as a matter of fact I have seen some exhibitors which are the powerhouse of their market without any crowds in there booth at all) this means no new clients and also they may have gotten to be a powerhouse by other means, definitely not by displaying at trade shows. What makes the difference in attracting attendees into you booth?   There are a few factors

1- In getting attendees into your both first of all you must have a friendly and inviting trade show display, this mean do not configure your trade show booth like a forte.  It should be open and inviting -one should not feel trapped once they enter your booth.

2- Greet attendees in the trade show aisle not in your booth, Very few  will ever freely enter your trade show booth without being invited

3- To capture attendees’ interest you must have something different from the rest of exhibitors. Try to create some sort of theme or major attraction inside your trade show booth. This will serve as a major draw for show attendees. Your trade show booth might be nice looking but still unable to entice the crowd, therefore, a crowd pleaser is a must. I  have seen this happen at a recent show, true the attendance was down at the show but all in all most exhibitors said they did better that the previous year or show , why?. Fewer exhibitors mean less competition for you the exhibitor. This in turn turns into leads which eventually can result in sales.  In getting the best out of your trade show you must have something unique different from the rest of exhibitors. DO not use gimmicks they only work but for so long, be creative about your product or the imagery of your booth…always introduce a theme whether in the appearance of the booth itself, your product or the actual displaying of the products themselves… be creative intelligently and forget the gimmicks

To recap your trade show booth should be inviting and open. One should be able to enter your booth not feeling trapped.  There should be some sort of theme to your booth and show something that is different from the rest of show exhibitors. Retirement may be a long way off for you – or it might be right around the corner. No matter how near or far it is, you’ve absolutely got to start saving for it now. However, saving for retirement isn’t what it used to be with the increase in cost of living and the instability of social security. You have to invest for your retirement, as opposed to saving for it!

Let’s start by taking a look at the retirement plan offered by your company. Once upon a time, these plans were quite sound. However, after the Enron upset and the things that followed (not exactly a chapter 13 bankruptcy), people aren’t as secure in their company retirement plans anymore. If you choose not to invest in your company’s retirement plan, you do have other options.

First, you can invest in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, certificates of deposit, and money market accounts. There are millions of adults who took piano lessons when they were kids, and would love to start playing again, but dread the idea of starting over again and taking lessons. To see how easy it is to get started again, take a look at this blog on Piano Chords & Chord Progressions.

It’s true that you never forget certain things that you learn as a child, like riding a bicycle. Playing piano is another example. Adults who had five or fewer years of piano lessons likely didn’t learn chord theory. Even adults who learned to read music as children frequently have trouble grasping chords.

Learning anything (piano or otherwise) is always harder in adulthood than childhood. It’s not impossible though. Anyone with a foundation in music is at an advantage when re-learning piano as an adult.

Are you an adult trying to brush up on old piano skills or learn new ones? Here are four things to consider before you start:

1. Be willing to put aside old habits. The piano hasn’t changed since you were a child. Teaching methods may have though. Don’t discount a teaching method just because it’s different from what you’re used to. Compare different learning methods before deciding which one is best for you.

2. Be prepared to start from scratch. It will be easier for you to ease into piano lessons simply because you’re familiar with a keyboard. That doesn’t mean it won’t be challenging. Don’t expect to play a classical sonata in the first month. Take things slowly, perhaps even starting with a refresher of the basics (i.e., scales).

3. Be committed to rehearsing your songs. Remember your mother nagging you to practice as a kid? Mom’s not around now, so it’s up to you to push yourself. Piano lessons are only as good as the effort you’re willing and able to put in. Make daily practice time a priority.

4. Find the right teacher either in person or online. There are many excellent courses on the web you can take that allow you to progress at your own pace. Look for a teacher who is experienced with working with adults.  He or she will then set you on the right course for re-learning.

Adults who take piano lessons often report a better ability to concentrate. Many also realize a greater aptitude for learning other new skills.
