Using artwork to make your home look better.
I have been walking about local galleries the past month across North Wiltshire, West Wiltshire, Kennet and South Wiltshire and discovered that the many galleries be they in Chippenham Wiltshire or Malmesbury Wiltshire are packed with some fantastic local artists works and a number of fantastic national artists prints. I thought I would give an insite of some brilliant artists who’s work is about at this time that have created works that are of benefit having a look at. Art is for everyone and a good print put in the correct space of a room can create a different kind of atmosphere.
The first painter I wanted to look at is the Scottish artist Jack Vettriano who I feel is producing exceptional pieces of art if you like film noir. For me when I look at his work I feel like I’m looking at some clip from an American detective scene or a scene from Miss Marple. Seems a little blasé perhaps but add to that a real feel of sensuality and strength and you will start to get a sense of his work. Jack Vettriano’s work can be seen in print all over the planet and adds strong tones to a place when you want to add depth and tension.
The second painter I wanted to discuss was Beryl Cook who moves away from moody tones to humorous large characters. I think Beryl Cook was one of Britain’s best painters of British character scenes. Many of us recognise her characters as large ladies on a beach, but the diversity of her paintings brings so much humour to normal scenes of real individuals having a moment. Look at her work as I’m sure she will make you smile, her work is light and raises the mood of a place.
The 3rd Artist I wanted to look at is Philip Gray the Irish painter who produces gorgeous moody scenes that I feel are so stunning and effective that you really sense how it must have been to be looking onto them in real life. His painting is very inspiring using colours that only nature’s beautiful sunsets and dawns can reveal. There is always a feeling of dramatic quiet about his work and is really of benefit a look if you like dramatic landscapes. Most rooms will benefit from pieces of this artists work.
The Fourth Artist I wanted to talk about was Duncan Macgregor who produces scenes that reflect his love of the ocean. Many of his scenes have ships travelling through their expanse which for those that love the ocean like myself adds points of focus in gorgeous reflective scapes of the ocean. His work is often fairly striking using strong colours to show the contrasts of the sea.
These are good painters to look at to provide you a wide range of styles that show the massive effect art can have on yourself or other people as they enter a room. Art I think should be something that allows you to dream about something else beyond your day to day. It can really help a room with bare walls, adding just the touch you want to reflect an aspect of self.
